SAN ANTONIO—November 2, 2010—U.S. Global Investors (Nasdaq: GROW) was recently awarded 7 STAR Awards, including an award for best overall communications to a retail audience, by the Mutual Fund Education Alliance (MFEA). U.S. Global competed in the small funds category, which includes firms with $5 billion or less in assets under management.

This year’s success brings the firm’s total to 21 educational awards won since 2007. The best overall award is given to the company which exhibits excellence in several different areas of communication such as annual reports, shareholder magazines and company websites.

“I’m very proud of our marketing and investment teams for doing an outstanding job in educating our loyal followers and investors about emerging markets, natural resources and market volatility,” says Frank Holmes, CEO of U.S. Global Investors. “We’re honored to have these educational efforts recognized.”

One judge added that the company has a “fantastic combination of timely and educational content.”

U.S. Global Investors is committed to providing investors with timely, balanced and thought-provoking educational experiences. The latest will be this Wednesday’s Post-Election Update Webcast with special guest Ian McAvity.  McAvity and Frank Holmes will place the elections and their expected market impact into historical perspective and offer insight into what the elections and other market events could mean for gold, commodities and world markets.

McAvity has been the editor of Deliberations newsletter since 1972, but that doesn’t begin to tell his story as a market sage. A regular guest of Louis Rukeyser’s PBS program, McAvity spotted the makings of a bull market in the early 1980s. Thirty years later, McAvity’s talented eye spotted the housing and credit crisis well before the bubbles popped.

McAvity is a chartist extraordinaire, who will share with the audience ways to identify where we are in several different cycles: The Debt Supercycle, the Presidential Election Cycle and the Gold Cycle.

The special web presentation will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at 4:05 PM ET. To sign up for this free event or find out more information, please visit www.usfunds.com.

In addition to the overall award, the new and improved version of usfunds.com won the award for best retail website. A judge said the website was “cutting edge and relevant.” One cutting-edge element is the Interactive Corner of the homepage that involves investors in a different interactive, educational element each week. The Interactive Corner won the STAR Award for the Wild Card category.

Frank Holmes’ CEO blog, Frank Talk, won the award for best online innovation. Historically one of the most popular features of usfunds.com since it was launched three years ago, Frank Talk has become an important tool for investors looking for insightful research into off-the-beaten path topics.

Once again, the Investor Alert, a free weekly analysis of global markets written by the firm’s portfolio managers, won the award for best electronic newsletter to a retail audience. The Advisor Alert, the Investor Alert’s sister publication specifically tailored to an advisor audience, took home the award for best electronic newsletter in the advisor category.

For the fourth-straight year, the Shareholder Report won the award for best printed shareholder magazine. Mailed quarterly to each fund shareholder, the Shareholder Report highlights the investment team’s research on trends and updates in key areas around the world.

The MFEA is a national industry association committed to investor education and dedicated to helping investors understand mutual funds. In its 14th year, the MFEA STAR Awards program is the only competition in which mutual fund companies compete for honors in communications. The awards are judged by peers within the industry and only those who meet the highest standards of quality are given an award.
